New Age Bait and Switch

Its 2026. You're looking at buying that brand new car! You've done your due diligence, found the best deal courtsey of the various auto industry search engines. That's exciting! You call the dealer to see if they have that car in stock and you're told "we sure do!"
After the trek down to the dealer, you discover that yes, you do get that discount, but theres a couple thousand in add-ons they have added.
What do you do?
Thats where your best negotiation tactic comes into play. Walking away. See, that dealer counts on you overlooking that profit center, the nitrogen tires, and fancy wax because you're there. They just bait and switched that discount with add-ons "you have to buy."
This happens more than you think and unfortunately most people don't know how to overcome the sales objections. That's normal, you're not alone. As someone who both sold cars and installed dealer add-ons ill be the first to admit, most are junk, few are worth it, but ALL are over priced unless theyre FREE.
There is a caveat, we have another type of added product and those are Port Installed add-ons. Those are items like floor mats, mud guards, roof rails etc found on many imports like Toyota and Kia. These cannot be removed and do hold value, the price is also set by the OE, not the dealer as pure profit.
